Mother Slashes Throats Of Her 2 Children While They Slept

In rather mysterious circumstances, a middle aged woman in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital on Wednesday, slashed the throats of her four-year-old daughter, Nneoma and her two-year-old son, Godswill, with a machete, while the kids were asleep.
Narrating the incident, the elder brother to the father of the slain children, Mr. John Uchaji, described the incident as incredible, saying that it was a mystery why the woman who is a school teacher, could have killed her children without provocation.
He added that the father of the kids came to him midnight on the day of the incident to report what happened.
The Ebonyi State police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Sylvester Igbo, who confirmed the murder, said Uchaji fled their Elias Odili Street residence, in Abakaliki to Lagos after committing the heinous crime.

Igbo, however, said that the command has commenced investigations into the matter, even as he noted that the children’s remains had been deposited in a mortuary for autopsy. He advised the family not to take laws into their hands, promising that the police would get to the root of the incident.
